Responding to new care standards

Our Residential Services team spent significant time preparing for the new Aged Care Quality Standards that came into effect in July 2019, with improvements made across the division to ensure compliance and the best possible care and experience for our residents.

The eight new Standards determined by the Federal Government have a clear focus on putting the resident at the centre of all that we deliver, clearly defining what good care should look like.

A new role was introduced to the division; the Quality Improvement Manager worked with all of our residential homes, ensuring we were prepared for the new standards and that we continue to improve the quality of our services.

A new Nurse Practitioner Service was also implemented at a number of our homes to further advance clinical care delivery, including working closely with our clinical leaders to support them as they provide care to our residents.

All of our care teams were trained in the new Standards, our policies and procedures were updated, and focused education and workshops were held for all staff.

We saw our first centre, BaptistCare Warabarook Centre, successfully reaccredited under the new standards in July 2019.
